Karl and Kathleen Nichter Photography

This blog began in 2009, about a year after we started our photography business. People attending our photo exhibits, or our hikes and workshops, asked for details on where we traveled for photography. As naturalists we usually kept a field journal, so we used that as a basis for Field Notes.
In Summer, 2014 we took a break from the blog because our business, and lives were changing. In January 2015 the blog restarted with an expanded theme. It now contains photography, notes, and articles from all of our travels and all of our photography, not just nature themed. The posts prior to 2014 have been archived.

About Us

Karl and I are photographers living in west central Florida. We both chose to exit our corporate business careers early and move on to growing our own business.

When we started our photography business in 2008, we did gallery shows, had our photography published both locally and nationally, and sold prints in several outlets. We still sell framed prints in selected outlets, but concentrate more now on producing our own projects with an eye toward themed shows and published monographs.

Karl Nichter
Karl worked as a professional photographer shooting weddings while in college earning his engineering degree. He took up the camera again when digital photography became more mainstream, concentrating on nature photography initially. He is a graduate of the Florida Master Naturalist program, a certified Interpretive Guide, and a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography.

Kathleen Nichter
Kathleen took art and photography courses while in college for her business degree, and did some semi-professional work while living in Ireland. She took up photography seriously again when Karl bought her one of the first Canon digital SLR cameras for her birthday in 2005. Kathleen is a graduate of the Florida Master Naturalist program, a certified Interpretive Guide, blogger, and a published free-lance writer.
